Early Life and Studies


Born in Crema, Italy, in 1992, Eleonora Filipponi is an Italian mezzosoprano. Her musical journey began with choral and piano studies before she turned to singing under the guidance of countertenor Roberto Quintarelli. In 2014, she began studying opera with Ukrainian mezzosoprano Nadiya Petrenko.

In October 2016, she enrolled at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Claudio Monteverdi” in Cremona, where she trained under the esteemed bass M. Mario Luperi. Alongside her musical studies, she pursued academic excellence, earning a master’s degree in Literature and Foreign Languages from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. In February 2017, she completed a master’s degree in Special Education for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Florence. By October 2018, she had graduated in Opera Studies from Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Claudio Monteverdi.” In 2019, she received a scholarship from Raina Kabaivanska at the National Opera Theatre in Sofia.

Eleonora is currently expanding her knowledge by studying Music Therapy at Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan and training at the Accademia Lirica in Osimo.

Roles and Performances


Eleonora Filipponi made her operatic debut in April 2014 in D. Clapasson’s contemporary operetta Il Giardino del Gigante. In July 2015, she performed as Flora in Verdi’s La Traviata at the first Crema Opera Festival. The following year, she debuted as Mamma Lucia in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana in Crema.

Her career gained momentum in 2017 when she performed as Charlotte in Massenet’s Werther in Crema under conductor Fabrizio Tallachini. She was selected by Fiorenza Cedolins to sing with her on the stage of Teatro Filarmonico in Verona. That same year, she joined productions at Festival Tones on the Stones, debuting as Gertrud in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel in Crodo and performing dual roles as Badessa and Maestra delle Novizie in Puccini’s Suor Angelica. She later debuted as Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.

In January 2018, Eleonora was selected by AsLiCo for the role of Carmen in Carmen - La Stella del Circo Siviglia (Opera Domani), performing in Italy’s top theaters, including Teatro Sociale in Como, Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, and Teatro Arcimboldi in Milan. In May 2018, she was chosen by Accademia Donizettiana to portray Enrico in Donizetti’s Enrico di Borgogna at the Donizetti Festival. That November, she performed as Mme Rivers in Bellini’s Adelson e Salvini, recorded at Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome.

She continued to add prestigious roles to her repertoire, including Maddalena in Rigoletto, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri, and Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica in Vienna. Her performances took her to Prague Opernfest and Montecatini Opera Festival. She later debuted in Die Zauberflöte as Second Dame at Teatro Verdi in Trieste and Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni in Modena.

Between 2021 and 2025, Eleonora has been featured in numerous productions, including I Capuleti e i Montecchi(Romeo), Otello (Emilia), Ariadne auf Naxos (Dryade), and Die Walküre (Siegrüne). She has performed under the batons of distinguished conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Daniele Gatti, and Oksana Lyniv in venues across Europe. In 2025, she is set to portray Paquette in Bernstein’s Candide and Zweite Norn in Wagner’s Götterdämmerung.

Eleonora Filipponi’s vocal talent has earned her numerous awards, including:

  • Special Prize at the 34th International Competition “Piero Boni” (2017)

  • Finalist at the International Competition “T. Ruffo” in Lucca (2017)

  • Second Prize at the National Competition “Voce d’Angelo” in Parma (2017)

  • Winner of the role of Carmen in the 2018 edition of “AsLiCo Opera Domani” Competition

  • Best Young Talent Award and the role of Flora at the Montecatini Opera Festival Competition (2018)

  • Winner of the role of Dorabella in Così fan tutte at the IV International Competition “A. Pessina” in Garlasco (2019)

  • Third Prize (ex-aequo) at the Fausto Ricci International Competition in Viterbo (2019)

  • First Prize at the 51st International Competition “Toti dal Monte” in Treviso
